What do Minnesota and San Francisco have in common? While traveling through both of them the past two weekends, I spotted signs for “New York pizza,” a lovely reminder of my home sweet home, even though I rarely ever eat pizza in New York. What I really adore though is an out-of-state nod to New York with attitude, like this pizza joint in Haight-Ashbury, a hippie district of San Fran. (It reminded me of Williamsburg, Brooklyn — lots of thrift stores, but add in a pinch of psychedelic).
