Reader Aliyah shares her “missed connection” ad with us. Apparently, if you don’t miss the person who misses you, the situation is all types of awkward.
“I was weirded out…..the situation wasn’t your typical “I saw you” situation. Basically I’d met this dude when out with a friend, he was friends of friends or something like that and he gave me his number. After I left, he told my friend to make sure I called him, but he was then informed that chicks don’t call. I knew that he worked for the Georgia Straight, which is Vancouver’s Stranger [alt weekly newspaper], and a few days later, I grabbed the newest copy of the straight, also the biggest issue of the year because it’s the “Vancouver’s Best” issue, and thought to myself “I better call this guy before who puts in an I saw you ad” but it seemed as though I’d spoken too soon, because the moment I opened up to the classifieds, it was the first ad. Seems as though he’d pulled a few strings.”
